Hi guys,

I am replacing light switches in house which was built in 2001 to match the décor.
The problem is that the wiring layout isn't straight forward.
By uploading images can somebody please tell me which wires from the old layout (white switch) connect to where in the new switch. Thanks

And also >>> For the New switch an Earth wire MUST go to Brass Earth terminal on the switch itself to ensure the metal front plate is Earthed. (ADDED--As per Bernard message bellow)

Or if you hold the New one Upside down next to the old one you will see all the "Y" shapes of the connections then match.

The wires with the green/yellow sleevingare the Earth wires and these must be moved from the terminal block in the plastic box to the brass Earth terminal on the switch to ensure the metal front plate is Earthed

Bernard, very good point and critical that I missed, and so I added to my response (with a reference to you).

Thanks guys for the quick response.
So I can be clearer with which wire goes where I have uploaded the photos with both switches facing both the right way. So the 'TOP' facing the top.
Sorry to be a pain but can you add the correct positioning again? Thanks

So the first images were both right sides up? The earth connection on new switch is BOTTOM?

Unless there are markings on the outside of your new switch, it doesn't matter which way up they are.

So, just copy.

If there are markings on the outside, then you will have to swap 1 and 3 and then when connected turn the new switch up the other way to screw on the wall.

Mark all the wires before you disconnect them.
