Hi I am building a barbe cue and have been looking at the mixes for the mortar, can somebody tell me the difference it will make if I add lime or do not add lime please?

Will it be ok not to use lime, if I prefer not to, or is it a must?

Any help appreciated.

Lime in a mortar mix makes it more workable, less permeable, slightly weaker and therefore more tolerant of movement.

I wouldn't bother with a barbie, tbh, just 1:5 cement/sand, with a smidgin of plasticiser in it (not Fairy Liquid!).

WOT? not fairy liquid? Shy,
Wot do you mean then, some other brand of wash up?
don't tell me the PC police have even got to the building sites.

I have it on good authority that Tescos own brand is the best :) - no mention of fairies that could otherwise upset the sensibilities of those on site of a ahem gentler persuasion either.

Wot exakerly are you suggesting Shy?
Nancy boys on building sites?
I don't think so, they'd sprain their limp wrists.

Tell me about it shy,
since I got sense and chucked the toys in the back of the coal shed,
and took up robbing junk dealers, (sorry meant to say restoring antique art objet d art for top end London salons)
almost all my clients are one fanny short of a good night in.

...almost all my clients are one **** short of a good night in.
:D Hold the "alt gr" key down as you press "o", gives you "ó", gets around the auto-censor viz: cóck :)

If that's what it was, of course :)

No actually Shy,
I said one p u s s y short of a good night in.

Hi, shy,
only you can make that decision,
I will still talk to you anyway,
Most of my best friends / clients are of the SSUH perrsuasion.

Shoveling sand uphill, (substitute another word for sand)

yes, quite, Shy,
were not really discussing lime in mortar are we?
BTW and aprapo of nothing, if you google 'chessspy' you will get 1500 hits, does that mean I'm famous yet?
