I cant find amanual at the moment for it, if you have one it will tell you the IP address of the router, put this into your browser.
this should bring up the a password prompt (check your manual but it is probably admin for username and password for......

go to the settings tab, and put in a passkey.
when you connect your computers to it, you will need to enter the same passkey to connect to it.

do you use the wireless bit? if not turn it off, that is the most secure method!!

can you get to your router logon page?
with the wtr54gs the default could be 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 IIRC
Once you're in, go to 'wireless' tab > 'security'. That's where you set up your passkey and enable SSID broadcast.

You are at the right bit, now if you click on the tab called " Wireless Security" that will bring you to the security settings page. Select AES and make a strong key up (about 30 characters). No dictionary words or names.

Lol, good god almighty, you don't to go that far. WPA Personal TKIP is fine.
30 characters is gonna be forgotten

The longer the better but 30 is maybe a bit much. I use random a 30 character key myself so I know no ones going to get in easy  . WPA AES is better than WPA TKIP since there was sort of a flaw found with TKIP not sure if it been fully exploited.

kevplumb: Select WPA pre shared key
