Lintel or not?

Hi there,

I recently had a door put into a single skin garage (new build).

The chap didn't use a lintel, should he have? There are two rows of bricks above, see image.

If it had just been 2 courses of bricks you might have got away with it - although it wouldn’t be right.

With the roof trusses sitting above as well, I’d be wanting a lintel.

Not the best way to do things, but my workshop has had the same forever and nothing has moved.
The door frame acts as a lintel, although not ideal.
