Hi all,
I am trying to maximise the width of an opening to accommodate a new folding sliding door. The lintels require 150mm minimum bearing on each side. The internal width of the room is 3190mm so I believe the maximum opening should be 2890mm. The next lintel up is 3300mm which would cause some overlap in line with the internal skin (Thermalite) of a cavity wall return on both sides (by 55mm). Bricks used on the outside skin.
Would that be ok? After all, the minimum bearing size if exceeded by 55mm.
Thanks
