I need to install a doorway in a brick and block outside wall (the outer skin has 'soldier' bricks above the doors and windows - as usual). I intend to use a upvc door that I'm taking out from elsewhere around the house.
Q1. What type of lintel should I use for the new doorway? Does anyone have any useful section views that show the installed condition please?
Q2. When I cut the new doorway into the existing wall, how do I properly close the exposed cavity around the new opening ?
Q3. The new opening will be on the end wall which extends up to the full height of the house - do I need to make any special consideration for this when supporting the wall while cutting the new opening ? (plan to use one 'strongboy' support)
