you guy know the l/f fires with the square block things to the heat exchanger. well got a call about one(family) pilot is lifting of the osd yet the fire stay on and lit. do these have one of those copper heat strips from burner due to low performance from pilot assembly.

person had rougues out to fix they aint sure what they done other than something to do with the thermocouple valve.
not sure whether theyve manage to by pass the osd or something or whether the fires have another alternative device.

Sounds remarkably like they have by-passed the safety device which must be classed as ID and the fire disconnected. Also a RIDDOR has to be completed and sent to HSE. (not that they will do anything - they never do - but at least it covers your back)

yeah thoguht as much, but its only telephone convo at this point, as i couldnt recall whether instructor mentioned some type having a secondary phil as such or bypass strip to main burner fitted by dodgey gas men.

Other than blowing through or basic brushing clean, these safety devices must be replaced if they fail. You're not allowed to clean them out with wire etc
