Hi

I had a builder come round today and he said my wall is not load bearing but I’m still not so sure.

I only want to remove 1 metre of this wall away. One half seems to be breeze blocks and the other half red brick. Please see picture below I have taken from the loft. You can see the wall very slightly in the loft.

If your wall is the murky grey line to the right of the pipe then yes there's some load on it. What size are those joists, what span are they, how much of the roof load is being carried by the joists (is the roof trussed- doesn't look it- or are there some purlins in the murk somewhere)

Your builder is thick.

The joists are on the wall and there is even a strut from the rafters right there too.

Hi

Thank you for your advice, those joists I think are from one end of the house to the other. If it was not load baring I planned to do it myself. My worry is the wood that leads up to the roof( as you can see in the picture) There is another one opposite but that’s not resting on no wall. The builder said I can just knock it down But it just does not seem right to me.
