Thinking about removing the walls marked in red on the plan. Is there a chance they may not be load bearing? The floor joists run front to back, and the roof is pitched with gables right and left. We will involve a structural engineer before doing the work, but just wondering if it is a likely non starter, or if there is a chance.

Doh you are right. Just went up there and nothing appears to be resting on the wall separating the garage from the hallway, all other vertical walls however are supporting the purlins - two supports on the front and three on the back... I think ours is called purlin roof?

If we wanted to remove the wall between kitchen and diner, would this be too complicated in terms of creating support?

Just a matter of a suitably sized steel, and a bit of thought if you want a seamless knock through, ie no knibs or downstand.
