Went to first fix a shower today, never come across one like it. The shower unit (10.5kW) is installed in the roof space so you only have an outlet in the bathroom and a small battery powered remote control (used to start/stop and alter temperature) screwed to the wall in the shower cubicle. It's very aesthetically pleasing but it's left me with a question which i'm not sure of the answer to.

Where do you put your local isolation? The norm would be to put a 50A pull switch in the bathroom but technically as the shower isn't in the bathroom that wouldn't be local isolation. An isolator in the loft would be local to the appliance but it means you can't easily shut it off if it goes faulty. The customer has asked if the isolator can be fitted in the cupboard to the left of the bathroom as they don't want any pull switches in the bathroom. Would this be acceptable?

Put one in the cupboard as a functional switch for the customer to use if they wish, and a local isolator adjacent to the shower in the loft.

Dunc, before you beat yourself up, have a look in the regs and see if you can find where it says that you must have an isolator for an instant heat shower.

It may be a good idea to use a 100amp DP isolator in a small din-box, as
it is more durable than a pullswitch, and in this situation you can hide it inside an airing cupboard adjacent the bathroom!

If the isolator cannot be seen when working on the appliance then the isolator should be lockable in the OFF position in case some one comes and turns the shower on.
