Hello,
I live in 1950's bungalow and I am planning to convert my loft space into a small occasional guest bedroom/ media room with permanent staircase and a velux window.
My new bedroom floor dimentions are 13ft x 11ft. It is mostly supported by downstairs room load bearing walls (4.5ftx8.5ft)and they support the centre of the new room (usable with a good headroom).
There are 3.14"x2" timber joists 12" apart in the loft covering the whole area.
Could you please advise whether this is sufficient for my purpose and whether I need to install any additional support. It is approx.3ft each way from load bearing wall sideways to the end of the new floor (that space will have a limited use due to a relatively low headroom).
Many thanks
