Hi,
Not sure if this tis the right place for this but anyway. Im looking for roofing ideas.
What are the options to create a ^ roof with two gable ends over a long span- lets say the wall plate to ridge is in the order of 10m. The gables ends will be brick, with supports on interior walls. Im guessing there might be complexities with the rafter lengths, what are the options? Are there longer rafter to tackle this sort of design or are shorter lengths added together.
Wall plate to central support 8.3m, wall plate to ridge 4.28m, rafter/ridge to wall plate 9.51m, which gives an angle of 25.73 degrees,
Any special things i need to consider?
Thanks in advance!

Wall plate to ridge is 10m or 4.28m or 9.51? Your question doesn't make a lot of sense.

You need a prpoer design

I suppose what im after is some info on options to create a rafter length of 9.8m. I realise standard rafters are only not likely to be 10m long, and if this span is even a good idea.
Do i break the rafter in the middle at a support, and support it there on a steel beam, or do i get some other type of rafter other than the standard rafter, which is better at crossing such a span?
Reason is i want to extend the bungalow, with a timber structure without effectively buiding another level, creating a large open space.

As above your first post make little sense.

A timber 10m long single rafter is not practical (or even available?) a glulam would do it but they'd be huge too. Steel is viable but expensive. Or have a purlin or two but again they might end up pretty big.

Or have a few steel rafters with timber joists between them, in principle a bit like this:

A couple of photos and a clear explanation and/or maybe some sketches before and after would help.
