Hi there,

We don't know the make/model of our loft ladder - could anyone please identify it from the photos?

It's at least 13 years old.

The arms need replacing - ideally from the correct make/model but another question i have is could we replace the arms with those from a different make/model if we can't identify ours?

Thanks,
-Phil

What do you think? Wobbly rivets that could be replaced by nuts and bolts with some washers.

The frame bracket is bent and the arm from the spring down is distorted.
The entire arm should be parallel to the frame (compare it to the image of the other side).
I don't think I would be comfortable attempting to bend the arm and bracket back into shape, given the large tension the spring puts it under.
The spring tension can be adjusted.by using different attachment holes - maybe the tension was a bit too great and exacerbated any existing damage to the arm? - it's not the most robust metalwork I've come across!

Ah thanks that looks exactly like it down to the loft pole attachment!

Thanks very much - will contact Werner and see what they think.

It looks like the ladder model they offer now has evolved but maybe replacement arms could work

Yeah the problem is just that the left arm is really bent out of shape and I expect it to go completely at some point.
Maybe the easiest option nowadays with the cost of labour is to just buy a brand new loft hatch+ladder and replace the lot but it seems wrong for the environment, would rather try to replace just the arms
