not really in the right index i think electrics would be better place.
download a wickes good idea leaflet 83 as a starter to understand the basics of electrics.
from this you should be able to work what materials you will need and how to go about it.
i would probably take a live from an existing ceiling rose (loop) to a new ceiling rose ie spur and then wire to the switch from the new rose.
