We have a Single hot water boiler on Night Storage Meter. Checked both overflow pipes into tank and no water coming in. Tank Ballcock seals inlet correctly. Tank still overflows and hot water appears to be coming in to the tank from the bottem outlet supply to the Boiler. Tank is also lukewarm?? HELP Please

Please post make and model of your boiler, because it's not clear whether you mean a fuel-burning appliance or a hot water cylinder with an immersion heater in it.

Sounds to me like the same tank is doing the cylinder and the boiler

Mixer tap letting by again  :?:

It is a hot water cylinder only with a single immersion heater in it. I don't know the make but it is about 20/40 gallon tank :?: Sorry not very technically minded  Still running out of the overflow

As doitall pointed out, this is a problem that seems to be cropping up more often on the forum, presumably as more unbalanced supplies are used to mixer taps.

First step - shut off the cold mains and observe the effect on the cold storage cistern; the overflow should subside and stop within a few minutes.

Then go looking for shower valves and mixer taps that are fed with mains cold and 'tank-fed' hot.

When you find one, isolate the cold supply to it, and observe the effect on the cold storage cistern. Repeat with different valves until you find the guilty one.

BTW, if you have a tap or valve whose cold doesn't have an isolating valve, then now would be a good time to fit one.

Brilliant  Thank you Softus and doitall :D I will look into this and let you know how I got on ;)
