Loft timber - wood dust and white blobs?

On the roof timber in my loft I have what looks like wood dust scattered around, along with a number of small white blobs approx 5mm wide. They look a bit like the little nests spiders make for their eggs, but I can’t see any eggs, or any signs of spiders. I haven’t seen any other creatures in their, dead or alive.
I can’t see holes in the wood, but it’s quite rough, so could be tricky to see.

It’s a Victorian terraced house - late 1800s.

Am waiting for a couple of companies to come and take a look. So far two pest control people have given two very different views.

Has anyone seen this particular combo before?

Woodworm? Look's like eggs
