Hi

I live in an old converted warehouse, the inside walls of my loft appear to be of sandstone of different shapes similar to a drystone dyke wall. a lump of this has fallen out leaving a gap about 8in wide 11in deep

The trouble is that there is that this is at the bottom of the wall can i mortar this back in and is so any tips would be helpful e.g ratios of cement to sand, techniques

Many Thanks

Billy

generally the harder or denser the bricks/blocks/stone, the stronger( more cement) your mortar needs to be. a 6 part sand 1 part cement with a shake of hydrated lime, should do the trick. it helps to damp down the surrounding masonry to get rid of dust and loose stuff before applying mortar.

Whats a drystone ****ing wall.......do you see them on ****ing Emerdale :?:
