Hi, we have had a knock out done for a new log burner, our internal chimney was a facing stone cladding ( large heave stones) which were tied in to the bricked cavity. The firm fitting this put a steel support to the brick work but not the stone work suggesting the ties would support the large stones. I questioned this with a builder who said it was unsafe.
We got the firm back and they built the sides up quickly and there in a concrete lintel. They plastered the brick work same time so I couldn't see the mess but I did see the lintel , it had a shaving taken out just off centre wich I could see to fit under a stone tht was bit lower than the rest.
Sorry for long message but has this lintel now been weakened? Do I need to have this looked at. Please can you advise .
Thank you.

I'll see what I got. The one I used first sort of shos where he shaved the lintel but has sort of hid most with cement. ‍♂️

I belive they have at the front but used foam to stick most of it to the bricks if that makes sense .
