Searched the forum to try and find an answer with out asking but no luck.

I am currently laying a membrane in my borders that edge to my lawn. I intend to lay plum chippings on the membrane.

Any suggestions on how to keep the chippings off the lawn?

I don't want to use anything jagged as I have a young family.

I had thought of using log roll but not many people seem to like it.
If I do use log roll do I need to bury half of it in the ground?

Cheers

Whatever you use it needs to be level with or beneath the level of the grass or you'll not be able to mow up to it.

Don't use log roll. Most of the stuff you see on sale isn't pressure-treated and even what it won't last long half-buried in the ground. (Experience talkiing here- we've had 2 different makes which both rotted and left copious amounts of white fungus trailing through the nearby ground).
