Had a bad block so I had a lend of my fathers rods and god it rid of the block but about 2 months after it came back. My father gave me a small brush for the rods so I was sorting it out with that and the brush came off.

I then phoned Eurovac 2000 to try and sort the problem but they could only get halfway up the drains and couldn’t even get to the brush. I did have a CCTV cam sent up to find the brush so at least I knew where it was.

I bought more rods to get up to the brush as by now it was making a block and I moved the brush using the screw bit and that allowed all the water to get past. Yesterday I noticed the water wasn’t going down again so I was going to do the same thing but as I was pushing the rods up (turning clockwise) I noticed the brush had come down further and near to the end (about 7 rods up) thing is the screw went behind the brush and now I cant move the screw back down.

Now looking at the CCTV that I had done with my garden is on a slope and the pipe go up the slope is not joined at the top but whoever has done it have put the 1 pipe in place where all the water can run straight down the slope (I hope you get what I mean here)

So what I was thinking of doing was to dig down to the pipes as they are not that far down and seeing if can get at the rods from there. Then if I couldn’t get at the rods with just my hand I would cut into the pipe until I could get my hand in once it was all sorted I would patch the pipe up for now as I was thinking of having another manhole put in place anyway.

Anything you can advise me on this please do as any help would be helpful at this time.

agree.

dig down to the blockage, and cut a section of pipe out. this can be repaired using slip couplings and new plastic or supersleeve pipe. if you don't need a manhole, you don't have to build one, though it may be useful in future.

would add to Noseall`s comment.........bring angled pipe up from repaired section.if in plastic ..and fit a rodding access point ;)

thanks for the help i know what the screw is stuck on, it`s stuck on a part of the pipe that has not been sealed up right. So come tuesday when it`s nicer (fingers crossed) i have to dig down and try and sort the screw out. Plus the brush is free but it`s coming to the edge of the slope and sticking then a block is formed so for now i`ll rod the brush back up and come monday night my wife is going to do some washing then on tuesday i`ll empty the top manhole with water bringing the brush to the edge so that when i open the pipe i can take the brush out :D

fingers crossed it`ll go to plan ;)

I will let you all know what happens once i do it on Tuesday

@Nige
that`s a good idea thanks i`ll do that one although my drains are not plastic they are made of a terracotta piping tpe thing but it gives me more idea`s ;)

yes, but the repaired section (as Nige suggests) WILL be made from modern products.

If only i could, I`m going to sort out the valve in the toilet and stop that dripping tap up stairs today and that`s only the start of it once everything is done on tuesday i`m moving the bath slighty down from where it is as the last owners put it right up against the window so turning the taps is a pain in the ass as you got the window sil sitting right behind the taps.

Ok I thought I’d let you know who it went.

Well we dug down and down and down and down and it seems the pipes are at least 10 to 15 foot down so no chance of me getting them. :(

So I’m looking into getting a grant as I’m not in work at the moment as these I think come under the essential things you have to have. Fingers crossed I can get it, because if I do get it then I am going to have the builders do me a new down the pathway as I don’t like the pipes under the house.

Anyone tried to get a grant in order to do this on here ?

thanks
