I chased out a section of my chimney breast so I could chemical bolt my timber bearer that would hold my floor joists.

I have now come to the stage I am removing the outer brick work of the chimney breast which has exposed the brickwork inside (that is holding up the timber bearer).
The bricks are poorly laid and some loose! The bricks that the bolts have gone in are good and to about 4 courses down are ok.
Would you advise re- bricking the whole lot or putting a concert lintel in half way up and bricking up to where the brick work seems ok?
Many thanks

Is there a chimney flue behind the loose brickwork?
Is that an outside wall?
Standing on the floor above can you take a pic showing the wall or chimney breast above the ledger?

I take it that you've used sheradised hanger nails - although, FWIW, all hanger nail openings must have a nail.

There is a flue behind the wall. Yes that 'was' the outside wall.
The other side of the breast (internal) will be removed. So it will only leave a single skin wall where the chimney breast was.
I did use sheradised nails.
Will get a pic asap from above

Point up any loose bricks just to secure them for the plastering. The rest of the all will be OK to take the vertical load
