Loose door frame

Hi all
My son is autistic and slammed the kitchen door shut whenever it was left open. The frame is now lose.
He has grown out of that stage and I want it repaired.

A plasterer said the frame needs replacing and I would need a carpenter. The frame looks OK and the door still works but the top of the frame moves back 1/2 cm when the door is open.

Do I need a new frame or can I just hold it in place and drill new holes and secure with new door screws.

What sort of wall does it need to be refixed to?

If its a stud wall (hollow if you tap it), then get some 3 or 4 inch screws, drilled and screwed through the frame into the stud.

If its masonry, brick/ stone/ block, you need some frame fixings, plus a suitable long drill bit and probably an SDS drill.

It is brick. I have the drill and probably long enough bits.

Can't see why it would need a frame, extra fixings should easily stop any movement so long as the bricks you are fixing into aren't loose by now, however a new frame wouldn't cure that either

From where the plaster has fallen out the brickwork seems OK.
Will 4 inch / 100mm fixings and nylon plugs be ok.

As in the picture there is a gap between the frame and wall.
Will it be OK to fix the door in place without filling in the gap. I have a plasterer coming next month to plaster walls and repair the plaster around the door but would like the door fixed in place before he arrives.

If I need to fill the gap what would I use.

Expanding foam will do that, but make sure the frame is in the correct position first and be aware of how much it expands (massive), also keep off your skin and clothes.
