Lost in washing machine!

Is there any way I can retrieve a metal collar stiffener lost in the washing machine a few weeks back. I believe it has probably fallen through the drum but has not made it to the filter. I'm aware it has probably been busted up but it has a sentimental value.

Remove the drain hose from the bottom of the drum & if it is not wedged in the hose then you may be able to get your fingers into the drum cavity & locate it whilst someone slowly turns the drum backwards & forwards.
