Just drained and bled my radiators and tried to bleed central heating pump and the centre screw fell our and fell through the floor down into the chimney, the only way I can get it back would be to remove the back boiler downstairs that is well above my competency.

Is there anywhere I can buy the centre screw for a Grundos Selectric as the only other alternative is to buy a new pump or hire a plumber to take the back boiler out to get the screw back :(

Any help would be really appreciated.

Cheers

Fluffster you are an absolute legend, I've been searching everywhere for one and am currently sat with the heating off as I cant turn the pump on :(

Have emailed you my address, if you you want anything for it even if just to cover the postage please let me know.

Many Thanks

Tim

While you are waiting for the one off Fluff to come through the post, nip down to B&Q & buy a pump, use the screw off that & then when your replacement arrives put it back and go get your refund.

This sounds like a lucrative business opportunity. From now on all the old pumps I take out will have the centre screw removed & saved.

I've got a few in my toolbox because it's a fiddly part and airing cupboards have poor light and plenty of crevises to loose the dropped part in. So on goes the one off the old pump!

Lost a plastic bung for fga point in back corner of an unvented cylinder. Only way to get it remove 300ltr UV cylinder and then replumb it.

So I ordered a new one and leaves boiler uncommissioned.

Theres a little plastic pip for reseting boiler on an Icos/Isar. I always drop them and sedom find them again.

Our job is so easy isn't it?

when I was counting my Krugerrands one of them fell between my gnarled fingers and rolled through a gap in the floor.

As it's the season of goodwill, who will send me a replacement?

I lost a test nipple on a gas meter once fell through a crack in the floor and did not have a spare with me, ahaaa was a real pain.

who will send me a replacement?
You're getting very forgetful John - you already asked me to donate the replacement to my favourite charity, as it's the season of goodwill.

best thing I've found to drop through the boards is a bleed nipple from a rad, never done it myself but been to a few customers that have :)

All sorted now, thanks guys and a special thanks to fluffster for sending the screw

Are these center screws a standard thread size. I have an old pump I was going to bin, but may now remove the bleed screw as a spare??
