Have been spending time trying to sort out a water hammer problem on my washing machine. Suddenly come to the conclusion that the water hammer sound (one large bang through the pipes) actually occurs when the washing machine draws water in and not when the valve closes. This has now thrown me as I thought water hammer occurred when the valve shut suddenly and not when it opened.
For a bit more info the washing machine is a siemens and it is a connected to the cold inlet using their aquastop connection. Is it possible that it is this which causes the bang?
Any help would be appreciated.
