Hi all,
I know you must get sick of questions about water pressure, but I promise you I have read some of the earlier posts and tried a few things. My problem is this:
Glow worm Swift flow 100 combination boiler. Last night the boiler made a lot of noise and the pressure gauge dropped to 0.2, followed by a light flashing labelled "low c.h. water pressure". CH and hot water both stopped.
I bled the radiators, some of which released air, some didn't appear to have any. When I checked the pressure gauge afterwards it was a flat 0. After reading some of the posts on this site I recharged the pressure using the filling loop, and got it back up to 1 bar, but the light is still flashing and the boiler is not firing when CH switched on or water run. When the hot water tap is opened in the kitchen there is a noticable jump in pressure (drops by .3 then jumps back when tap closed).
I have also checked the PRV, and although it has been a wet day there was no obvious leaking (certainly not flowing or constant dripping). I was a bit concerned about this as a few weeks ago I came home from work and saw the max pressure marker up in the 3 bar, so there had been some build up of pressure during the day, but everything was still working fine and there was no change in the heat on water or radiators.
Can anyone suggest anything else? Do I need an engineer, and if so how long (days, hours or minutes) should it take for an engineer to fix a problem like this? Any suggestions would be really appreciated, as I have a new born at home and money is tight.
Thanks.
Al G.
