Hi All

We have a Triton Opal shower fitted in our rented flat. We usually get a good temperature and pressure at around setting 4-6 and have never had to turn it up past this point.

In the last week the shower has become cold/lukewarm at setting 4-6 and needs turning up to 8-10 to achieve an acceptable temperature. At this level the pressure is so low that we cannot have a proper shower (slightly more than a dribble).

Our landlord has been out and refuses to send an electrician as it is still "working".

We would be really grateful if someone could help diagnose the problem before I spend money getting an electrician out.

Many thanks
Andy

Of course, I hope you're aware that the incoming water gets colder in winter, and therefore an electric shower needs to work harder to heat the water.

By turning an electric shower "up" you're actually slowing the water down so it spends longer in the element. The element's only controls are the two power settings.

However, compensating for seasonal changes, you should still get a decent flow and be able to wash under the spray, unless its a poo 7.5kw shower.

What may be the problem is that one of the elements is shot - lectric showers have two.

This might be a simple case of a 'sticky' micro-switch, which would result in half-power only - Opal's are notorious for this type of problem. Or it might be that half the element has failed, as Steve metioned....

Either way, it's still your landlord's responsibility to sort it out.
