I was thinking of knocking up something for moving large items of furniture.. esp. stacked shelves when needed. four castors of some sort screwed into a bit of plank.. but really i'd like something with a really flat profile that would make it that much easier to place under each end of the object without pitching too much.. anyone seen something like this that isn't a ripoff?

Not seen them, but made one before.

Flat bottom, with folded ends, to form an upside down 'top hat' shape, the castors go on the out sides. Easy in metal.

How about some of them roller things, for moving fridges etc....appliance rollers. Might still be a bit higher than what you want, but only about 30-40mm high iirc.

Hmn.. sounds a good clearance.. but the only ones of those i've seen were really weak. probably there are better ones now, as there's a lot of weight in a full bookcase..
