Hi, I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction as to the fault on my LPG system.

When the ignition is turned on with the change over switch in petrol it starts up no problems.
When the switch is turned onto LPG i can hear the click (solenoid) i think and it changes to gas no problem, obviously wont start up in LPG mode.

The problem lies when i start in petrol then try to switch over to LPG, it just doesn't happen, i've even ran the van for a while, got it up to temperature, but it still wont change over to LPG.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Don't know much about LPG. I'm afraid.

You may have to get the fault codes read by a garage, as the system may think the engine is still cold, due to a faulty sensor.

LPG is not something designed for the DIY mechanic, it can be quite dangerous

EDIT "not something for the DIY mechanic"

Before I retired I was a trained gas engineer and was qualified to work on domestic natural gas as well as LPG and can assure you that LPG is infinitely more dangerous then natural gas so I would urge you to have an trained expert solve your problem.

Please do not attempt repairs yourself. LPG can be dangerous.

Just had a quote of £165+ VAT for a service, is this the going rate, seems a bit steep. That's without repairs

Don't think a service will get you out of the woods, will they not plug it in for you and tell you the results. Usually the smaller garages will do this for a small fee, then you can decide what to do.
For example if it needs a sensor at £90 plus fitting. Get that done and put the service off until another time.

I cant think of anything covered in the service that will sort your problem, maybe someone else can?
