I wanted to replace this ceiling pendant (it is one of two ceiling lights on a circuit with two switches at different locations) with a recessed emergency downlight (we’ve had two power cuts in one month plus I always hit my head on this light).

Wondered if this would be possible? When the switch is turned off…won’t the emergency light turn on as it will think this is a loss of mains power?

This lumi light acts as a standard downlight with an incorporated emergency light.

The existing light only has a switched supply, you can't fit an emergency light to that.

Yes - thanks! I need a permanent live.

Would it be a big job for an electrician to wire one in?

Could a permanent live be taken off the mains smoke alarm beside it?
