Hi guys!

Am looking at setting my router to limiting access to certain devices.

The PC's and laptops are easily identifiable having been set up by name.

But the android devices are just a list of numbers: how best do I identify which device is which?

If it matters, two are running 4.4.4 KK and one 4.2.2 JB and one 4.3 JB.

Cheers!

Normally listed in 'settings' > 'About' device.

Otherwise switch one device off and look for the other on your router.

Knowing which router might help.

If you're looking to use MAC filtering to prevent other devices connecting, be aware that bypassing it takes all of ten seconds. It is in no way useful as a security device.

Cheers guys.

No Monkeh, just to prevent the kids accessing the internet.

Alan: Can't find it in "About Phone/Tablet"...

Switched devices on and off, it doesn't seem to have any effect.

It's a Technicolor TG582n

Thanks, Monkeh.

Have found the MAC address of the tablet for now, but I cannot find it on the system.

Further, I can find other android devices on the system I do not recognise, some under the WiFi, and some under Ethernet.

Why would android devices show up under Ethernet, when they are all connected via WiFi?

Should I clear out and delete all devices I do not recognise?

Go into Wireless settings and change the wifi password. Don't tell the kids what you have changed it to. Their devices won't then connect. (assuming you have password protected the wifi) ;) ;)

;)

Thought of that but it's not ideal as there are devices on the wired network that need controlling too.

Turn off dhcp and just use a static ip address and subnet mask, no router ip or DNS.

Won't beable to access internet then but will still be on the network.
