Looking to change my phone car cradle,

seen some which magnetise to the back of the phone.

I was always under the impression that phones were to be kept away from strong magnets.

If nothing to do with the memory cards etc, I wouldn't like to use a magnet close to the screen........

Has tech moved on, such that there is no issue with phones being in close proximity to a magnet strong enough to hold them in a moving car?

The phones fall off anyway when you hit a bump.

Have a look at the RAM x-grip range. You'll never need another

My wife bought one, a rounds ball like thing, a metal disc sticks to the phone so it attaches to the magnetic ball.
Never used it, I got her something better instead.

I could not afford another - £60 :eek::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I just had a quick Google and one holder came up at 19.99 and then the brackets were between 10 and £20.

If you can get one from an American supplier off eBay or Amazon then it could be even cheaper.

The thing is, it will last a life time, for any future phone and you can adapt the brackets for other uses.

Magnets aren't a problem today. If you look inside any moderately fast desktop, you'll see a large fan bolted to the top of the CPU. Magnets are an issue for magnetic based storage. e.g. hard disk drives or the old floppies.

What about screens though? Iirc, you used to be able to damage a screen by placing a strong magnet on it?

yes - when screens were cathode ray tubes..

I'm not saying a strong magnet wouldn't damage a phone, but there are plenty of magnets in them.

I just bung mine in the slide out draw and do everything via siri. It works pretty well for most things. Though people do get confused when they get a text messages saying "sorry I can't talk because I'm driving".
