Need to buy some magnetic tape for some DIY secondary glazing.

I see there is an option for purchasing Type A, for first service and Type B for the second surface.

The alternative is to purchase Multi-Pole tape, which works out considerably cheaper.

Customer support say Multi-Pole is equally as strong, interms of magnetic strength.

Can anyone confirm this?

hi,

Flexible magnetic tape with adhesive or laminates on one magnetic face require multi-pole magnetisation, due to the barrier the laminate and adhesives create, preventing the magnetic field from escaping through the top of the magnetic tape.

The adesive on a flexible magnetic tape are laminated onto the non-magnetic face of a multi-pole flexible magnetic tape.

This means that multi-pole magnetization is specific for for flexible magnetic tape for windows.

Here's a description:

I have multipole tape on my secondsry glazing panels.
A feature of it is that the tapes attract at some alignments and repel at others. So you MUST glue one tape to the plastic, then fix another tape to that (magnetically), then offer that up to the frame and stick it in place. If you don't do that, the tapes will not be sufficiently well aligned.
(OR, use steel tape on the frame; I don't know how well that would work.)
