Hi,
I am planning to remove my house's main door and the decorating arch over the door and use my porch door as my main door. Once the door is removed I would like to make an opening to the garage from where the original door was. The house was built in the 1930s, solid brick with no cavity. Please see the pictures for more information.
The wall above the original door is a load bearing wall holding the external wall of the box room
The wall where the proposed new door into the garage is a load bearing wall holding the original external wall of the house.
I got few questions
1-Can I use a concrete lintel to support where the original door was and for where the door to the garage is going to be? or should I use beams.
2-How far should the new door into the garage be from the corner of the house?
thanks
