My main radiator in the living room has a water hammer problem. It gives out loud banging noises. All the other radiators are OK. I have tried adjusting the valve to no avail. Any ideas. It is a combi boiler sealed system. It drives the pet dog bananas.

If that is the valve on the inlet which you can turn from 0ff to 5, then it does.
I have taken the radiator off as i noticed that the radiator was not hooked onto the centre bracket. would this cause the banging? I need to get a few of those plastic inserts that rest in between the radiator & bracket before i hook it back on.
