Making a table up from iroko worktops - can I buy a kit?

I’ve just about finished my kitchen and need a round kitchen table about 1m diameter – preferable that could extend to seat 6.

I also have a large amount of the iroke worktop left over and thought it would be good to either attempt to make up a table my self or pay someone else to.

So…..

Can anyone point me in the direction of ‘instructions’ and supplies for table making? I was thinking that I could hopefully buy a pedestal and maybe some clever extending mechanism and just use my wood for the table top.

Or, tell me where I should be looking for someone to make me one up (I’m in Reading). Unfortunately I am yet to find a chippy that I think is up to the task (had a succession of ‘chippies’ that have struggled to fit doors etc)

Help appreciated.

Peice of Iroko worktop, couple of tresles, simples. eek.

I was hoping to be able to make it extendable but I suppose for an easy life I could just have it 'normal'

Where does one buy tresles from? I was considering painting the tresles cream so maybe buying a cheap second hand table and butchering it is the way to go??

Edit: Ikea may be the answer.....

Would reall y prefer a pedestal though.

Hafele do several sets of runners for extending tables
