I have a built-in bedroom cupboard in the corner over the stairs. The bottom of the cupboard is 3' above the floor but the door was a standard 2'3"x6'6" going down to the floor. This was really awkward as the bottom of the door opened where a decent size bed and table could be.
I have filled in the bottom of the door but now need a 27"x41.5" cupboard door. It would be convenient if this was split vertically and hinged in the middle.
I was thinking of making two doors out of 3mm hardboard front and back glued and pinned to a 22x19mm frame at the edge making the doors 28mm thick.
Given the doors will each be about 342mm wide, will I need to support the hardboard in the middle?
Any other suggestions?
