Making-good on plasterboard ceiling with a skim plaster finish

Hi all,

Complete newbie here, apologies.

Redecorating a house with plasterboard ceilings, with a skim plaster finish. There are a few straight hairline cracks passing through a number of them, so I need to repair these before decorating.

Very stupid question but should I use Toupret powder for this? Any tips on how not to b#lls it up?

Its worth finding out the cause of the cracking - eg ceiling joist movement, nail/screw pop?
