Making good

Hello All,
Just a quick one, when mixing plaster is it just a case of add water and away you go?
all i am looking for is to make good when i chase walls out, also what plaster is best for this?

One Coat plaster in a small bag small amount of water then powder into it. stiff, not runny for making good.Use a gauging trowel -nice round end for smoothing.
