Is it possible to make your own roof light ?

I am looking at using a fixed flat light light this:
https://roof-maker.co.uk/rooflights/fixed-flat-rooflights/

My roof will be flat. The joist and insulation and sheeting will be a depth of approx 270-350mm.

I can order my own glazing. Just need to make the frame. Was thinking about using dried oak as using oak in the extension. Would look nice. Anyone think this is a bad idea ? Leakage issues with flexing etc ?

Save money AND if i could have them in oak they would look amazing.

I pay £28 per sqm for double glazed units made to any size. Prob could get triple glazed.

So just need to make the frames, just not sure if it is viable.

They look like simple boxes to me, no moving parts.

The bit which sticks out of the roof i would look at fibre glassing. Doing the roof in FG you see. So thought it may be possible.

you can build the upstand out of oak then glaze over top but just make sure it dry(no green oak)

OP,

There's a thread in the roofing forum today: "panoroof skylight" that might interest you?

Has anyone ordered from https://www.panoroof.co.uk/ ? I believe they also sell on ebay. I bought 3 pieces from them over the phone and got charged however no confirmation of order and tried calling them numerous time with no response.

Anyone has any suggestions? or got a better service?
