Making safe live cable end.

plaster boarding at the moment and wanted to remove the light switch and a plug socket to leave just the cable.what can be used as a short measure to make the ends of these cables safe when I turn the electric supply back on.
Is it safe to use plastic terminal strips and if so do they need to be a certain amp.

Only as a very temporary measure. Make sure they are well taped up to stop the plasterers geting them all wet.
Better to use proper terminal boxes or those ChocBoxes from Dragon's Den

Oh yes. Get ones that are the same or greater current capacity to the fuse in the fuseboard (eg 6amp for lighting, 30amp for ring final circuit, etc..)

Although, if the termination is at the END of a radial circuit then there should be no current flowing

How long will it be before you put the switch and socket back?

only a day or two,thought it would be easier to poke cable through 50pence size hole in board whilst putting up.
Is using a choc-box a safe option for a long period from plasterboarding to skimming stage.The reason is it could be a while(weeks) before having room skimmed.

Stick the ends in a tub of marmite. That'll put 50% of people off, the others don't matter.
