Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition, Ad-Aware (freebie).
Couldn't update the above progs... Did I have an infection, a 'nasty' at work??
Nah, turns out I had, had Outlook Express open, but running 'offline' !! Exited OE, not using IE8 at the time so hadn't noticed the 'offline' situation... 'Malewarebytes' for example, threw up error 732 when manual update attempted - a quick Google in Opera threw little light on the problem - except possibility of some infection deliberately preventing update ...
OE and IE share settings, so placing one in offline situation actually sets both progs offline - within my XP Pro SP3 setup anyway !
Could be awkward to hunt down if using OE and none M$ browser...
Funny old game... Mind you, perhaps I have a 'one off' set up?
