Hi chaps,

Had some builders in to do an extension and the drain had to be kept in the kitchen.

Basically they left it too high so I have to remove the frame etc and lower it.

On removal I find its not rendered inside, and the bricking is kinda cowboy with the pointing not looking very clever.

Does waterproof render need to be applied inside? Or shall I simply sort the pointing out and lower it?

Also they had it on 3 full bricks and then some mix.

In order for me to get my height, I need it on only 2 bricks. However this will require alot more mix. So it will be sitting on about 1 and a half inches of mix. Is this ok? Its all been boxed off with the joists etc, so i simply need to fill up and place frame in and level it off.

The draim in the rectangle type.

q1. What "drain" has been left in the kitchen?
q2. What frame have you removed? An inspection chamber cover? A specific frame and cover must be used indoors.
q3. How do you know that it is too low?How do you propose to lower the invert, presumably, without re-arrangeing the whole shebang?
Building control in my area disapprove of rendering access brickwork - so do i for what it's worth - it can eventually fall off and block the channel.
A clean, plumb brickwork face is req. and clean, struck pointing.
