i want to put a base down for a new conservatory but i have a manhole in the way i am told that i need a sealed cover can anyone give me some advice on what type i should use and where to get one
my neighbour did that (bco. ok'd it) , co incidence or not, he now has blocked drains, it looks like the whole floor will now have to come up (they cant remember where it is)
use a double sealed manhole with a recessed top, set it so that your screed comes to below the rim by the thickness of your floor covering.
You can then tile upto flush with the top and inside the recessed lid and all you will see is the rim and the lid retaining screws.
Any builders merchants should sell them.
In my extension I took the decision to tile over the manhole (not an easy one to make). The correct type of manhole cover was used I took photographs & have added dimensions, so should it ever need to be lifted I know where it is. But my thoughts were with flexible drives etc It should be possible to remove any blockage from another manhole/drain.
But I hope I never need to put it to the test.
