Hi All,

I'm replacing an existing broken Manrose XF100TP model of extractor fan, so I thought I would order exactly the same model to make sure the connections were identical. Specifically, the old fan I'm replacing has an external ceiling mounted pull chord, hence why I wanted to match the connectors exactly, to take the guesswork out of it.

Unfortunately I'm confused by some differences between the old XF100TP and the new XF100TP I have been sent:

Old model XF100TP:
- 3 connections on the connector block: 1 = Spare, 2 = Live In, 3 = Neutral In (but 'Spare' seems to be connected to something, maybe the external pull chord?)
- Has no internal pull chord.

New model XF100TP:
- 2 connections on the connector block: 1 = Live, 2 = Neutral
- Has an internal pull chord

Any ideas whether the new one can be connected up like-for-like, or is the newest incarnation of the XF100TP annoyingly not identical to the old one?

Thanks in advance,
S.

I wish they had, but it definitely states that it's a XF100TP model on both the old and the new one.

Yeah, here's a list of the types now:
100mm (4") Wall/Ceiling Fans
XF100S Standard model for remote switching
XF100P As above supplied with pullcord switch
XF100T Timer model incorporating integral adjustable electronic timer (1-20 mins)
XF100TSS As above with shallow spigot
XF100TP As above but with pullcord override switch. Requires no switched live
XF100H Humidity control which is adjustable between 40% RH and 95% RH
Complete with integral adjustable timer (1-20 mins)
XF100HP As above but with pullcord override switch. Requires no switched live
XF100PIR PIR activated model which switches on as a person enters the room
and runs on after the room is vacated. There is no need to connect to
a separate switch Timer adjustable between 1-20 mins. Requires no
switched live

I don't see what the functionality is supposed to be, but I guess it won't be coming on just because you turn the light on. I guess you wanted the XF100T (if you wanted light switch operation, but maybe you didn't).

Is it that on new one, the timer works after the integral pull-cord is switched off?

If so, then could it not be rewired to work with the ceiling pull-cord?

Perhaps that is what someone has done to the old one.

I just don't know what they mean by 'pullcord override switch'. As though it did something without the switch.
