Post 2010 I have tried to avoid exterior jobs. I used to be very happy with the longevity of Dulux Trade Weathershield (pre 2010- oil based) but unfortunately every time that I have used it since then, it has started to fail after a year or two.
I do not want to use exterior WB products. I have very little faith in them.
I recently worked for a client who got bored with waiting for me to paint the exterior of their home. They specified International Paint's Toplac system to the other decorator who took the job on.

That was 3 years ago, it seems to have lasted longer than previous finishes used on their home. The quality of preparation was far lower than mine would have been but I am nevertheless impressed with how well it has lasted.
Does anyone else have experience of using professional marine paints for exteriors. Thus far the only downside that I can see is the cost. They are more expensive, the finish coat (Toplac) is about £75 for 2.5L (double the cost of Dulux trade weathershield), but when you consider labour costs and potential longevity, it works out much cheaper than using standard trade exterior paints (assuming that it lasts longer).
