Hi All,

Not been on here for a while, been cracking on with the house refurb and I'm about to start tiling the roof of the extension.

I've got these tiles, laying on a monopitch roof at 17 degrees. The roof has had monaperm fixed to the rafters and batten fixed at 250mm centres.

A couple of questions;
-I didn't realise they had to be shoulder-nailed (I thought the rivet hole was for head-nailing!). How do the rivets work (do they just anchor against the underside of the tiles on the next course down?)

-I was hoping to tile this weekend, but haven't got the rivets, would most builders merchants stock them?

-On the installation guide, there's two courses of tiles at the bottom of the roof which are cut back so that they overlap. Is this neccessary? Why can't I just have the first course as a full tile, lipped over the eave by 50mm into the guttering?

Thanks for your help,
Ryan.

The reason you have the smaller eave course is so that the rivet fot the first full course has a something solid to sit on.

You will probably need to go to a specialist roofing suppliers to buy the copper rivets.

If this is your first time laying man made slates you will find the rivets very fiddly.
