Master board

Hi
I am building a stud wall chimney breast around my cooker which will house the extractor fan. I thought it would be a good idea to use fire board ( masterboard ) to clad it in. My question is can this board be skimmed with a finish plaster as you would over plasterboard ? or will it need to be bonded first.

fireline plasterboard can be skimmed.
