Hi all, this is my first post :D I've just found this forum and it looks pretty useful, especially as I'll be doing LOADS of DIY on the house I've just bought. Anyway, my girlfriend has more shoes than Imelda Marcos and there's a ridiculously shallow fitted "closet" in one of the rooms so I want to turn it into a shoe rack! I'm thinking several pairs of tubing running along the entire length. They'd be held in place by some sort of pipe clip. I've got two main questions, firstly where can I get cheap tubing (presumably aluminium is the cheapest option)? I need 14 lengths of about 75cm (2' 5"). The second question is does anyone know where I can get angled pipe clips i.e. to mount a pipe vertically? All the ones I have found are designed for a pipe running vertically. All of this doesn't need to be fancy or anything, just functional. Thanks in advance.

Yes, that's EXACTLY what I need, cheers for the help. Quite a bit cheaper than what I've been looking at as well.

Don't get me started. I dread to think what they have cost over the years! I meant cheaper than other suppliers though.

sorry couldnt resist it :D ;)

I did a similar thing for my sis, but got so sick and tired of her - "dont want white bars, dont want this, dont want that etc, in the end I got so sick I used 15mm copper pipe and said until she can find an alternative they are staying put! AFAIK they are still there today but have quite possibly been painted

I did exactly the same thing as this in the bottom of a cupboard i converted to an alcove but used 2x1 to mount the two rails inside as big-all described and used cups like those from toolstation to put a last bar at the front between the frame, where timber would have looked stupid. If you'r doind a lot of short ones maybe you'd be best having a couple of 2x1 lengths running vertically and fitting your tubes to through those.
