As part of a minor kitchen makeover we want to replace the chrome kitchen sink tap with a matt black style. Only issue is NE Northants where we live has hardish limescale water. Will this quickly spoil a matt black tap ?
If not then can any one recommend a decent tap brand as there appear to be endless brands out there, from silly cheap to silly expensive. We just want a standard swan neck tap with H & C levers, no hose or boiling etc. Willing to pay for decent quality.
Thanks.

Surely any limescale would be limited to the bottom of the aerator? If that is the case, I would suggest that you purchase a tap from a reputable supplier so that if you need to, you can source a new aerator.

In fact, when you purchase the tap - buy a new aerator or two to go with it.
That will tell you that 1, they are available and 2) you have them for when you need to change it.
Now being able to find the replacement aerator when it's needed is another issue entirely :)

Many thanks, never thought about the aerator part.
Wife was more concerned about the splash marks on the black finish, even if they are wiped down.

Matt black anything in a kitchen will look like crap after 6 seconds of use.
Taps, kitchen sinks, cabinets, handles, worktops and the rest.

Choices -
a. Fit matt black taps and sink and never use them. Your kitchen is a showroom to be worshipped daily but not actually used.
b. Fit matt black taps and sink and then spend the rest of your life cleaning them after every single use without fail.
c. Fit chrome and stainless like everyone else.
